Electa Kean was born in southern Missouri and spent a large part of her childhood shadowing her father and learning the ins and outs of fishing the various warm water lakes, ponds, and streams in the Ozark Mountains. She learned how to fly fish at an early age and discovered an ingrained passion for the artfulness of the fly fishing experience. Over the course of the next few decades, she has been able to fish worldwide in over 18 countries and 49 of the 50 United States. Electa’s interests vary across many species of fish and she routinely fishes both saltwater and fresh. But her personal utopia is fishing cold fresh waters for natural run trout.
She moved to Alaska in 2003 and fishes hard throughout the state, in all seasons. Electa has always loved introducing others to the sport of fly fishing and has a particular interest in helping women find individual significance in their their own pursuit of angling....regardless of their age or level of experience.
